Music Player
Okay here's a step by step walkthrough on how to make the player like on my page with your own playlist since
so many people asked me how and I don't really like making them myself lol. it's not hard at all though if you just follow
the directions right. I use filelodge to upload songs because it has unlimited bandwidth which I really need since alot of
people visit my page a day, places like Ripway has a bandwidth limit though, if you know any other upload hosts just use them,
filelodge usually works great though in my opinion. It only looks long cause i tried to explain it in detail, its easy once
u get use to it though. It's basically 3 parts.....
Here's the steps
Part I - The Player
-
-
Now click the link below and click on the link at the top of the page that says if your download doesnt
begin shortly click this. Player
-
Save the .swf file from the winzip onto your hard drive in whatever folder you want, extract it or whatever.
-
Now go onto your free tripod account, find "File Manager" on there (it should be next to "Site Builder"
or "HTML Editor") once you found it, you will see a drop down menu that says "Upload Via", click that and change it to "Single
File(s)"
-
Now just click browse and find the folder you saved the player.swf file in and upload it. that part is done
Part II - The Playlist
-
Now go onto filelodge and click Upload at the top. then just upload all the songs you want (if you already
have them downloaded on your computer) you can upload 3 at a time
-
Once you have them all uploaded that you want, Open up Notepad then click this link below to have the playlist
html, copy and paste the html there onto your blank notepad you opened Playlist
-
Just put the info where it says. right click each song and go to properties to get the url/link to it and
copy and paste it where it says "Song URL Here" on the blank playlist in notepad. Then where it says "Artist/Song Title" just
put in the artist/band, song title or both (just whatever you want to show up on the player when you're done)
-
You can add more if you want more songs, just copy and paste the code as much as you want, that's 5 there.
each song begings with if you notice. and the very end has to end with so dont change
that or anything else. just put in the info I told you.
-
Once that's complete save it as something .xspf, thats important. (example: playlist.xspf or chase.xspf)
-
Now upload that playlist (.xspf file) onto your tripod account the same way you uploaded the player file.
You need them both on the same account for it to work right. You won't have to deal with the player anymore after this, you
just keep making a new playlist whenever you want so it'll be easy from now on.
Part III - The Final Code
-
Ok here is the last part once you have uploaded the player and made your own playlist. Just
click the link below and copy and paste the code into notepad. Final Code
-
Once it's copied and pasted go onto your tripod account you still should have open and right
click on the player.swf file you upload and go to properties to get the url/link for it and copy and paste it onto the code
u just pasted in notepad, it goes in the part of the code where it says (Player Link/Url Goes Here) just paste it there (without
the parenthesis of course) and dont change anything else, it goes between the " and the ? so leave that.
-
Time to copy and paste the playlist url/link where it should go in the code. Now once more go
on tripod and to the playlist you uploaded and right click it and go to properties to get the url/link, or u could just open
it to get the link, copy and paste the link into the same code you have open in notepad, it goes kinda right after the player
link, where it says (Playlist URL Here) and of course without the parenthesis again. it should be between playlist_url= and
&
-
Now you end up with just that one code u have in notepad, you should save it now and just open
it later when you want a new playlist and just replace the playlist url after you've either made and uploaded another one
or changed the one you had.
-
Copy and paste that whole code into your profile wherever you want and it and you're done! It
should work now, if not you did something wrong.
Here's an example of the player, playlist and final code if you need it to see how it should look.
